29th March 2007 - Onny Eagles
match preview
This weekend
sees a top of the table between the Royals and Onny Eagles. If
Royals lose, then the odds fall back in favour with Onny to win the
title. Both teams are understood to be without key players and
certainly the Royals will be weakened without Agnew and Bourne.
Royals will play in red.
The match kicks off at 10:30am at Russell's Meadow.
26th March 2007 - Royals to face
Onny Eagles in Final
Royals
will meet top of the table Onny Eagles in the final of the Matthew
Evans Cup. Onny convincingly beat Ludlow North 5-0 in the other semi
final.
25th March 2007 - Royals book
place into Final
Two
goals in the first 5 minutes gave Royals just the start they had
hoped for in their semi final against Red Rovers today. In an
entertaining game, on a pitch that had recovered from the recent
rainfall, both sides showed that they can play good football, when
the conditions are right.
Rovers did pull the score back to 3-2 by half time with goals from
Van Doesberg and Parton, but in the second half, Royals changed
formation proved successful and they netted twice more to make the
final score 5-2.
Bourne came
away scoring 4 (including one penalty) with Lewis scoring the other.
A full match report will appear
here.
21st March 2007 - Cup Semi Final Preview
For the fourth time this season Royals take on Red Rovers, this time
the most important meeting, for a place in the Final of the Ian
Hughes Cup at the SMS Stadium, Ludlow. Royals have not had a game
for 2 weeks and will need to put on a better performance than their
poor display against Presteigne South 2 weeks ago.
Red Rovers come on the back of two successive wins and their
confidence will be high, so weather permitting the game could be a
real cup tie affair.
The game takes place at
Russell's Meadow at 10:00am.
20th March 2007 - No training this week
With 8 of the Royals squad away at Arthog this week, there will be
no training this Thursday.
20th March 2007 - Weekend results round up
Two games were played last weekend, one of which could have an
effect on the Royals. Ludlow North beat Presteigne South 2-1 which
takes them to within 3 points of the Royals second position in the
table. Ludlow also have a game in hand over the Royals. This match
has not yet been reported back to the league and is not reflected in
the current league table.
In the other game next
Sunday's opponents Red Rovers gained a 4-2 victory away at
Presteigne North.
15th March 2007 - No match for the Royals this
weekend
Royals enjoy another break this weekend
as they were unable to re-arrange a postponed fixture. They were
supposed to play Presteigne North - and this Sunday had been agreed
back in early February, however it now transpires that Presteigne
double booked the fixture with Red Rovers.
This means
that the next fixture will be against Red Rovers on 25th March in
the semi final of the Ian Hughes cup.
12th March 2007 - Onny Eagles now three points
clear
Onny Eagles extended their lead at the top
of the table to three points after this weekends results. Whilst
Royals could only manage a draw, Onny defeated Presteigne South in a
mid-week game by 3 goals to 0.
Although three points
adrift, Royals could get level if they win their game in hand.
11th March 2007 - Royals salvage point after
first half
disaster
Royals lost their 100% home record this
season today after just managing to salvage a point today in their
game against Presteigne South. Presteigne had deservedly earned a 3-0 lead by half time in a
first half which saw the Royals sleepy and lacklustre. Two
goalkeeping errors gave their opponents an early two goal lead,
whilst poor defending gave them a third.
The tide
turned in the second half when the Royals played with a lot more
passion and had the wind behind them. Two goals from Bourne and a
third from Green saw them earn the point.
A full
match report will appear
here.
7th March 2007 - Presteigne South match preview
Royals will be hoping for better weather this weekend when they
entertain Presteigne South at Russell's Meadow. The pitch is
currently very wet and heavy but should be playable provided there
is not too much more rain between now and weekend.
The two teams have met twice previously this season with the Royals
coming away with victories on both occasions.
The
match takes place on Sunday with a 10:00am kick off.
6th March 2007 - Royals slip to second place in
table
Onny Eagles have jumped to the top of the
table after last weekends matches. Their narrow 1-0 defeat of
Presteigne South means that they are now one point clear of the
Royals, with the Royals having a game in hand.
5th March 2007 - Royals to play Red Rovers in Cup
Semi Final
Royals have been drawn a plum draw
against local rivals Red Rovers in the semi-finals of the Ian Hughes
Cup. A victory will mean a place in the final against either Onny
Eagles or Ludlow North.
The match is to take place on
25th March 2007.
4th March 2007 - Royals trip to Presteigne in
vain
Royals made the journey to Presteigne today
for their league encounter only to have the game called off on their
arrival. Early morning heavy rain had made the pitch unplayable.
Royals now have 3 re-arranged games to fit in before the end of
April, two against Presteigne North and one against Ludlow North.
2nd March 2007 - Allan released by Royals
Jacob Allan parted company with the Royals yesterday after lasting
just 6 months. He made 12 appearances for the Royals scoring 2
goals. The decision was a mutual one, but comes just 3 days after
the management were advised that he was committed to the team.
1st March 2007 - Presteigne North match preview
Royals should be able to chose from a full squad for this Sunday's
match against arch rivals Presteigne North. With goalkeeper Craig
Keugler now fit after illness and Jacob Allan available for
selection again, competition for places will be tight with all
players playing well.
The two teams have met twice so
far this season, after that epic cup final from last season. The
first match was 2-2 whilst Royals scraped a 1-0 victory in the other
game. This will be the first time this season that the two teams
have played at Presteigne.
The match takes place on
Sunday 4th March with an 11:00am kick off.
Royals will be playing in blue.
