14th June 2007 - Royals players targeted for
new team
Royals' managers were recently made aware that
Gill Groom, wife of the newly appointed Church Stretton Magpies'
chairman Graham, has approached the parents of Royals' players
behind their backs, to invite them to play for a new team that
she intends to manage from next season.
It is understood that she is attempting to start
a Magpies u12s team to play in the Shrewsbury League for the
2007-08 season.
At least 8 players are known to have been
targeted and at the time of writing two players, Ed Groom and
Michael Brayne have accepted the offer, both leaving the Royals
after 4 years.
12th June 2007 - Carless-Turland leaves the Royals
Harvey Carless-Turland has left the Royals and has signed for Meole
Brace Juniors. Harvey played his last competitive game for the
Royals in the Matthew Evans cup final victory. The reason is cited
as being to gain experience playing in a different environment.
He will already be familiar to Meole Brace, as manager Dave Pryce
also manages the Stoke City Development Centre which some of the
Meole players also attend.
We wish Harvey the best of luck for the future.
10th June 2007 - Orleton Village 7-a-side tournament
Royals finished a disappointing 5th in the 2007 Orleton Village
7-a-side tournament. In blisteringly hot conditions Red Rovers were
the successful side, winning the tournament by beating Leominster
Minors 5-4 on penalties in the final.
Royals results were as follows:
Royals 2-0 Orleton B (Smith, Carless-Turland)
Royals 0-1 Red Rovers
Royals 0-1 Onny Eagles
Onny Plus 0-2 Royals (Carless-Turland, Lewis)
Orleton A 0-1 Royals (Smith)
Royals have not yet been able to match their achievements of
reaching the final in both the 2004 and 2005 tournaments.
