31st August 2008 - Royals 8-2 Bridgnorth Town

Royals came through their pre-season friendly against Bridgnorth Town in fine form, defeating their opponents by 8 goals to 2. Despite not being match fit, Royals looked strong and sharp, with the new signings adding to the strength in the midfield.

Some excellent football was on display from both teams, but the Royals had the upper hand, passing the ball with ease and making use of the pace of both Hearle and Fielding on the wings.

Goals from Lewis (2, 1 pen), Moffat (2), Fielding (2), Hearle and Smith made sure of the victory.

26th August 2008 - Pre-Season Friendly Confirmed

Royals entertain Bridgnorth Town FC this weekend in a pre-season friendly at Russell's Meadow. The two sides have never met before, playing in different leagues for the last 5 years. Bishops Castle finished at the foot of the table in the Mid and North Powys League.

The game takes place on Sunday 31st August at Russell's Meadow, with a 10:30am kick off.
Royals will be playing in red.

26th August 2008 - New Signings Confirmed

Three new signings have this week put pen to paper and signed up to play for the Royals for this season.

Defender Khalid Al-Houbani has signed from Onny Juniors FC. Khalid has played for Onny for the last 5 years, but decided to join the Royals after his current team broke up. He also played for South Shropshire in this year's inter-league tournament.

Previously unsigned midfielder Jack Fielding has also joined the club. Jack, who is a county pentathlon competitor, can play on both the right and left side of midfield.

Ex Onny Juniors midfielder Liam Moffat has decided to sign for the Royals after 4 years with Shrewsbury Town FC. Liam will compliment and add to the strength of the existing midfielders.

17th August 2008 - Pre-season training going well

The team is now 3 weeks into their pre-season training routine, and have settled back in well. Whilst expectedly having lost some of their fitness over the last few months, they squad has applied itself and are keen to get started in the league.

With most boys returning back from holiday shortly, almost a full squad is expected next Sunday.

16th August 2008 - Robinson Signs for Meole Brace

Dominic Robinson has left the Royals and has signed for Meole Brace Juniors. The player had been with the Royals for 5 seasons scoring 8 goals in 110 appearances, including 5 out of 5 penalties in the
2008-09 season.

It is understood that Robinson wanted a fresh challenge and with over half of Meole Brace's squad of last season leaving, he will have his work cut out at his new club.

15th August 2008 - Baschurch away confirmed as first match.

Royals travel to the North West of Shrewsbury for their first league encounter of the 2008-09 season where they will meet Baschurch Juniors. Their opponents have finished runners up to Meole Brace in the league for the past 2 seasons, so a tough game is in store.

15th August 2008 - Royals place confirmed in "A" Division

Royals will be playing their football in the "A" division of the Shropshire Junior Football League during the 2008-09 season. This will be a tough challenge for the lads and should be a great experience for them.

8th August 2008 - Several new signings expected shortly

The Royals are currently talking to several new players with a view to bolstering the squad for the coming season. Last season the team won the league with only 13 players signed on, but it is thought that at least 16 will be needed for the new campaign.

The Shropshire Junior League allows a maximum of 18 players to be signed per team.

3rd August 2008 - Pre-season training commences

Pre-season training commenced today at Russell's Meadow for the squad. Due to holidays, only around half the squad were able to attend. The session concentrated around regaining some of the fitness that would have been lost over the summer period.
