29th October 2008 - Shrewsbury Junior
Colts match preview
After a layoff of 2 weeks, Royals are
back in action this weekend against the same
opponents they met in their previous game,
Shrewsbury Junior Colts. Royals just pipped
them previously after penalties were needed
to decide who would be progressing to the
semi-finals of the League Cup.
The weather conditions are likely to be
very different this weekend with falling
temperatures and rain likely.
The game kicks off at 10:30am and Royals
will be playing in blue.

in the 3rd round of the Charity Cup. Meole
Brace defeated Dawley Wanderers 3-2
yesterday, in the second round.
The match will be at Meole Brace on 16th
November 2008.
17th October 2008 - Lock leaves Royals
Midfielder Richard Lock has decided to
leave the Royals. He was in his second
season with the team and had scored 9 goals
in 24 appearances but was frustrated at not
being a regular in the starting lineup. It is thought that Church Stretton Magpies
are interested in signing him.
16th October 2008 - Free Weekend for
the Royals
Royals players and parents have a free
weekend this week. Royals are not in action
on Sunday due to having a bye in the 2nd
round of the Charity Cup. Training has been
cancelled due to a number of players having
injuries and also due to school commitments.
16th October 2008 - Injury Updates
Several players have minor injuries at
the moment and would be doubtful to be fit
if there was a game this weekend. Joe Hearle
(groin strain), Tom Lewis (strained back)
and Rory Smith (bruised heel) are all out of
action at the moment.
15th October 2008 - League Cup round
up
Royals will meet either Meole Brace
Juniors, Meole Brace Colts or Shrewsbury
Juniors in the semi finals of the League
Cup. The matches are not due to take place
until 18th January 2009.
Results from the 1st round were:
Meole Brace Juniors 5-2 Market Drayton
Tigers
Meole Brace Colts 8-1 Meresiders
Shrewsbury Juniors 3-1 Baschurch Juniors
Shrewsbury Junior Colts 1-1 Church Stretton

14th October 2008 - training switches
to Saturday mornings
Training switches to Saturday mornings
from 9:30am to 11:00am, starting this coming
Saturday (18th October). With it now getting
dark by 7pm, Wednesday night training is no
longer possible.
12th October 2008 - Royals through on
penalties
Royals were tested to the extreme this
afternoon at Shrewsbury Sports Village.
However after an equally matched game, it
will be Royals who are in the draw for the
semi final of the league cup.
Royals were not at their best but could
have scored 4 or 5, but for a string of
outstanding saves by the Colts' keeper. In
the end it was Shrewsbury who took the lead
early in the second half. Royals then had to
dig deep and Moffat scored the equaliser
with a superbly headed goal from a Hearle
corner, with just minutes remaining.
Extra time came and went without either
side being able to take the lead. Penalties
came and Royals finally won 3-2, with Green,
Miles and Lewis each scoring theirs.
A full match report can be found
here.
8th October 2008 - Shrewsbury Junior
Colts match preview
Royals meet Shrewsbury Junior Colts this
weekend in the first round of the League
Cup. The Colts are currently joint third in
the league table with the Royals with both
teams having lost one game so far.
The two teams have not met for 5 years,
since they were at U8s level, so not much is
known about Royals' opponents.
The game takes place on Sunday 12th
October 2008 at Shrewsbury Sports Village,
Sundorne Road, SY1 4RQ. Kick off time is
12:30pm. Royals
will be wearing blue.
6th October 2008 - Weekend results
round up
Shrewsbury Juniors maintain their good
form with another victory, to keep them top
of the A league, whilst Meole Brace Juniors
stay second despite not playing yesterday.
Royals are currently joint third.
Meresiders 0-11 Shrewsbury Juniors
Shrewsbury Junior Colts 1-2 Baschurch
Market Drayton 2-5 Meole Brace Colts
5th October 2008 - Rain puts paid to
Meole Brace clash
Persistent heavy rain overnight caused
the Meole Brace game to be called off this
morning at the 11th hour. Enough rain had
fallen to make puddles form on the pitch and
therefore unplayable. The A49 was also
flooded north of Church Stretton making it
difficult to pass.
The game will now be played later in the
season.
1st October 2008 - Meole Brace match
preview
Royals take on Meole Brace Juniors this
weekend, in a match that is sure to be full
of rivalry and local interest. The two teams
have not met since Meole's 2-0 victory two
years ago. Both sides have vastly changed
squads since then so past meetings are not
relevant.
Ex Royals Harvey Carless-Turland and
Dominic Robinson are both likely to be
starting for Meole, while Royals should have
a full squad to select from.
The game takes place at Meole Brace
School adjacent to Roman Road sports centre
with a 10:00am kick off.
Royals will be playing
in red.
